Spring gutter cleaning after West Michigan winter

Snowmelt, ice dams’ leftovers, seed pods, and winter grit leave gutters ready to overflow in April storms. A spring cleaning resets drainage before tulip-season rains.

Holland’s spring is wet. Gutters that looked fine under snow can be half-full of granular shingle grit and decomposing leaves that never made it out in November. When thunderstorms arrive in April and May, that material becomes a dam.

Spring cleaning is also when we spot hangers pulled by ice weight and seams opened by freeze-thaw. Fixing those early is cheaper than replacing fascia in July.

FAQ

When should I book spring cleaning?+

Late March through May, ideally after the last heavy seed drop on your lot but before sustained storm season.

I cleaned in the fall—do I still need spring?+

Wooded lots and pine-heavy yards usually benefit. Open lots with light debris may only need fall. We will advise based on what we see.
